Anybody visiting Lake Gariep for more than just taking photo's at the dam wall, would have found Venterstad along their travels. Whether you just have a walk through the town to visit all the old buildings, stopping off at the Hotel Wild for a chat and a cold one, or just slowed down to the 60km/h speed limit on your way through - everyone always say, "Next time I'll spend more time".


Venterstad Churches: The Reformed Church Venterstad (16 June 1875 and also a National Monument), Saint Paul's (Anglican and Methodist church), The Dutch Reformed Church and the Afrikaanse Protestantse Kerk.

Sport and Recreation: Whith Lake !Gariep around the corner, Fishing can be on top of your list. Or to relax after all the driving, have a stop at the Venterstad Bowls Club (Rolbal klub) on a Saturday and Wednesday afternoon. For the rugby fans, try and find out when the next game is. and more, come and have look for yourself.

Schools and Businesses: The primary school building is a must. Go and have a walk through, and if you time it at lunch break, you'll enjoy the sound of fun at a goodly volume.

Medical services: A well equipped clinic looks after the needs of the people and with Burgersdorp(best dentist in South Africa) and Colesberg within easy reach or Bloemfontein about 200km away, no problem, go and break a leg.
